Title: Reece Farm and Ranch: Nurturing the Land, Savoring the Flavor

In the heart of the countryside, where the rolling hills meet the endless sky, lies Reece Farm and Ranch, a beacon of our style of agriculture and a testament to the power of using the animals to add inputs and till the soil with their feet. Here, the land is not just a resource to be exploited but a partner in a delicate dance of nurturing and growth.

At Reece Farm and Ranch, our constant care and using the animals to the lands benefit is more than just regenerative as some call it; it's a way of life. Through careful stewardship of the land, they have not only preserved the natural beauty of the landscape but have also revitalized it, creating a vibrant ecosystem that sustains both flora and fauna.

One of the cornerstones of using the critters to add inputs to the land at Reece Farm and Ranch is rotational grazing. This practice involves moving livestock between different pastures, allowing the land to rest and recover. Not only does this prevent overgrazing, but it also promotes the growth of native grasses and plants, which in turn sequester carbon and improve soil health.

But the benefits of using the animals for the benefit of the soil extend far beyond the boundaries of the farm. By sequestering carbon in the soil, Reece Farm and Ranch relies less and less on fertilizer inputs. Additionally, by avoiding the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides, they are protecting local waterways and wildlife habitats.

Of course, the true testament to the success of this practice at Reece Farm and Ranch is the quality of the products they produce. The high-quality of beef and pork are not only delicious but also packed with nutrients. Studies have shown that grass-fed meat is higher in omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants than conventionally raised meat, making it not only a healthier choice but also a more flavorful one.

But perhaps the most compelling reason to choose our high-quality beef and pork from Reece Farm and Ranch is the knowledge that each bite is a vote for a local farm and allows the ease of access to food to remain in place. By supporting our style of agriculture, you are not only nourishing your body but also helping to preserve the land for future generations.

So, the next time you sit down to enjoy a meal, why not savor the flavor of our beef or pork from Reece Farm and Ranch? Your taste buds will thank you.

In Progress

We're building a pond on our farm, a beautiful addition that'll provide a habitat for aquatic plants and animals.

Update 1: During the summer of 2023, we completed our request for water rights to allow us to store water in a pond. The State of Idaho was great to work with and after a few months of waiting for approval, we can now see our permit on the State website. What does that mean for Reece Farm and Ranch moving forward this summer? It means we will dig a small test pond to see where the ground water is. Our assumption is that once we dig down a few feet we will have a natural seep that will fill the pond. The challenge is to be able to have a deep enough pond that will hold water. Where we plan to place the pond, we dug a very small test hole a couple of summers ago and hit what I believe is river rock- not good for holding water. We have no idea if it is a small layer or if it is something that a smaller excavator cannot break through. If we do get through that layer, what lies beneath, and will it hold water, or will we need to have a pond liner? Most of the ponds in the area stay full or at least partially full all summer, which is promising. The best-case scenario is that we are able to get close to 10 feet deep to allow for fish to survive and thrive in the pond, and for the water to allow for a great swimming spot for the kids and the dogs, and most importantly, for us to pump water up to the top of the property for our gravity water system for the animals. Waterfowl will be welcomed, but the critters, cows, etc. will be fenced out to help preserve the riparian area by the pond and the seasonal stream below it. It will be a fantastic project and will provide year-round enjoyment including hockey when the conditions are right!

Giant Zip Line

Kids and friends will experience excitement as we create a thrilling zip line on our farm for soaring and enjoying views.

Are we crazy? Maybe a little. Ok a lot. We have the capacity and space to build a really long zip line. Yes, we have a ton of research to complete to ensure it is safe and for the kids to have as many turns as fast as they want. Friends and family only but nonetheless, we may have a ton of friends coming to visit!

Storage

We will need places to hang our hats, get out of the weather, and keep supplies dry. Due to keeping the nature of the farm mobile in the sense that we will be moving the animals and operations around as we find our rhythm and small sheds will be built to be mobile and skidded into place.
